Should you freelance at Fiverr? This is the honest truth

Should you freelance at Fiverr? This is the honest truth

After 15 months in my marketing and teaching career, I decided it was time to diversify my income sources and try different ways to make money. I have read in several places that Fiverr is a great choice for writers, so I think I created a profile and became an active member of the Fiverr community in October.  is easier to set up, basically just a profile picture and some short descriptions.  I realized that copywriting and translation are the main categories on the platform, and this is what I provide. My area of expertise is the article/blog area. After browsing the websites of other vendors for a few days, to see which works and which do not work, I did my first show.  For those who don’t know, Fiverr is a marketplace that connects aspiring freelancers (sellers) with customers (buyers) looking for specific services. Your work can be divided into many different categories, from financial advice to logo design. In order to make money, you need to do "shows", which are essentially small sales offers, trying to get potential buyers to buy your services.  Like everyone else, Fiverr has no single secret to success. I can’t provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to earn 25,000 a year or build a channel with trusted customers. I can share my experience and (hopefully) ideas to help you determine whether Fiverr is a reliable source of income for you.  So, should you be freelancing on Fiverr? Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons.

Pros

Will be involved in many projects.  In just a few months, I completed everything from writing a blog post for an optimistic cafe apparel company to maintaining a fighter website.  It may be interesting to conduct research in such a diverse industry. To be honest, I have never worried about it.  If you like to work on a completely unique project every time, Fiverr might be the perfect choice.

Extra money

The obvious benefit is that you can earn pocket money as much as you want.

Is your salary fair?

May not be compared with other platforms and freelancers. However, in the end, this is money you would never have. You don’t have to waste time bidding on projects. I haven't won a lot of money, but transferring money from Fiverr to my PayPal account feels good. The  website is easy to navigate. The  Fiverrs platform is so simple that you can become an expert in finding what you need in a matter of minutes. Fiverr employees are always ready to report any issues that arise and respond quickly.

People use Fiverr, and most of their needs can be solved by a quick Google search.

Fiverr also has its own forum where you can ask questions, and people are usually very helpful and informative.

Fiverr helps you start your business

Everyone starts from the beginning from day one. If you spend ten minutes on a single appearance adjusting your copy to attract potential buyers and build a good image, you can get entry-level jobs.

Cons

Fluctuating Price Points

You have to decline first.  I set a very low price, but there are still interested buyers requesting a customized order at a lower price.  Few people will be satisfied with the price you set as a new seller and use your lack of feedback to ignore customer requests. This means you can send them an order and the two parties agree on the price and word count.

Fiverr is named after Fiverr for a reason. Many shows start at $5, and the platform will charge 20% of the merchandise you sell. This means that for a $5 concert, you can only get $4. Even if you sell 25 concerts, you are not. I really can't make that much.

The time I spent on researching competitors, new topics and content creation for only $10 (technically $8) may not pay off in the end. Fiverr generally encourages you to sell your services in small pieces.  The disadvantage is that as a self-employed, you cannot find any customers.  Continuously making money is difficult.  As I said, Fiverr will guide you through your suggestions. However, before getting a steady stream of positive reviews, buyers can contact existing sellers elsewhere. Low, the difference between paying $5 for each person without proof of work and $10 for each seller with 50 positive reviews is worthwhile for most people.

Depending on the seller’s level, it usually takes 14 days to access your balance.  Fiverr has your customers.  Building a loyal customer list outside of Fiverr will not help you. You are largely at the mercy of the platform, because the rules for communicating with anyone outside of Fiverr are very strict. You will deactivate your account in any external marketing communications.  This also means that Fiverr can make changes at any time, which would undermine its success. What if they decide to increase the commission to 50%? So relying on someone or something is always risky.  Quality is more important than quantity.  sounds good, doesn't it? Work when you want, and you will get paid for what you like. It  is not true.  Once customers place an order, this will become their top priority. Even with ongoing marketing efforts, I will work during lunch hours and be a few minutes late to complete my order early. First, it is necessary to maintain a very high level of proficiency to ensure that you do not receive negative feedback. This may mean sacrificing extra work (and money) to focus on the work you have.

Scam

To be the best of Fiverr, you need to create a lot of recommendations. What is the safest way? Buy fake ones.  I didn't do it myself, but I did read some "tricks" or "secrets" articles to help me succeed on Fiverr. Everyone can create their own assessment.  Some people will ask you to purchase an account or start a casual chat on Messenger, which has nothing to do with their service. Judgment :  Fiverr is not like Uber, whose matching is random, and drivers have a certain income guarantee. Nothing is guaranteed.  If you are willing to (initially) spend very little money to do a lot of work, and learn to position yourself on the Fiverr platform, then you may succeed at some point.  Remember, your concert may never start.  Personally, Fiverr's performance is not good. This is mainly because I don't have extra time to create more content and sit there waiting/promoting orders. In my full-time job, writing Medium articles, building investment portfolios, maintaining relatively strict training programs, researching other cases, and learning what I can do, the value of Fiverr is not entirely time spent. . Diversification of income sources is my main project in 2019. There are many cool and interesting ways to make money that most people will never consider outside of their careers. Fiverr may be the missing part of your portfolio.  Do you have any comments on Fiverr or similar platforms? Tell me in the comments, I look forward to hearing from others.
